Basketball Icon Skills To Model

1. Competitive Mindset
Model: high standards, practice discipline, mental toughness, desire to improve.
Drill: write your weakness of the day and attack it before comfort drills.
2. Footwork Foundation
Model: balance, pivots, jab steps, triple-threat position, change of direction.
Drill: 50 reps each of forward pivot, reverse pivot, jab step, drop step.
3. Mid-Range Scoring
Model: pull-up jumpers, fadeaway footwork, shot balance, soft touch.
Drill: 25 makes left, 25 center, 25 right.
4. Finishing
Model: body control, hang time, creative layups, both-hand finishing.
Drill: right layup, left layup, reverse layup, floater.
5. Defense
Model: stance, lateral movement, closeouts, pressure, anticipation.
Drill: slides, closeout sprint, reaction defense.
6. Leadership
Model: focus, accountability, leading by example, demanding excellence from yourself.
Drill: write one standard you will not lower today.

Complete Daily Drills

1. Mindset Drill

Duration: 10 minutes
Write:
• What skill will I improve today?
• What weakness will I attack?
• What standard am I refusing to lower?

Goal: train competitive focus.

2. Footwork Drill

Duration: 15 minutes
Do 50 reps each:
• Forward pivot
• Reverse pivot
• Jab step
• Triple-threat stance
• Drop step

Goal: better balance and control.

3. Mid-Range Drill

Duration: 20 minutes
Make:
• 25 left side shots
• 25 center shots
• 25 right side shots

Goal: 70%+ accuracy over time.

4. Finishing Drill

Duration: 15 minutes
Practice:
• Right-hand layups
• Left-hand layups
• Reverse layups
• Floaters

Goal: finish with both hands.

5. Defense Drill

Duration: 15 minutes
Practice:
• Defensive stance
• Lateral slides
• Closeouts
• Reaction steps

Goal: stay low, balanced, and fast.

6. Conditioning + Review

Duration: 15 minutes
Do:
• Sprint intervals
• Squat jumps
• Calf raises
• Record 1 minute of movement

Goal: improve energy and explosiveness.
